Love Mary Oliver and that quote in particular, Ashley. I also love asparagus and Croque Monsieur, but it’s been close to 100 degrees here in Chicago for the past 2 days 🥵 but as soon as the temp drops, I making your Croque Monsieur! Hope you’re well :)

Sometimes I wonder if we are somehow, secretly, unbeknownst to us, the same person. Or if maybe you somehow have a third sense of the themes in my life, from my ever growing desire to embrace the sweet minutia of the moment, down to a loaf of slightly stale sour dough, and two bunches of asparagus in the fridge, that have been waiting for me to use them. 💕

As always your words perfectly describe this moment in our seasonal progression and capture the emotions I experience. I can’t wait for “summer “ to actually start and at the same time feel like it’s already going to be over too soon. Good reminder to breathe in the present. This recipe looks delicious, looking forward to making it!

I, too, am quick to correct people who call early June "summer". This spring has been such an odd one, I'm regularly having to remind myself the month. I mostly have enjoyed it, as I long for the grey days all summer long (especially last summer). I've been frustrated that there was no spring skiing, as winter never left the mountains. I'm always happy for the fresh snow, but I am very bummed that we didn't get any days playing in the sun on our skis.

This recipe sounds so dang good. Several weeks ago I had the best croque madame I've ever had at The Maple. This recipe may finally be the inspiration I need to attempt one at home.
