Strawberry Rose Marshmallows
“Only when your love of roses is greater than your fear of thorns can you grow a beautiful garden.”
― Matshona Dhliwayo
In the spirit of this holiday of honoring love in all forms I wanted to share a recipe for one of the best things that has come out of my kitchen lately - Strawberry Rose marshmallows.
While traditionally roses are given out in bouquets this time of year I’m here to say that perhaps a bundle of these would be better suited to communicate love, affection, and appreciation?
Roses are said to gladden the heart particularly when burdened. So when told to “stop and smell the roses” there is truth in the ability for that simple act to help you connect you to your heart and remind you to slow down and enjoy life. In her book, Body Into Balance, Maria Noel Groves says that studies suggest “that roses tone the heart and have antihypertensive, antidiabetic, anti anxiety, hypnotic, anti-inflammatory, nerve-calming, and mood-boosting effects.” As if you needed any more reason to whip up a batch of these blush-tinted beauties.
